Need to open an excel passworded doc

anyone know of a free program that will reset or remove the a password from an excel spreadsheet as the bursar has forgotten her password for it..

Open it in OpenOffice. It'll completely ignore the password and let you resave it minus said password protection.

Surely though, ignoring passwords would fail on the compatability thing and cause more problems.

I think it also depends on which version of MS Office the file was created with.

Here is a small excel file containing some freely available code that will figure out a password for an excel workbook/sheet. It won't tell you what the original password was, but will find one that will resolve to the same protection hash used for the document.

Trying to unlock another password-protected Office doc today (Excel 2003). I've never found the perfect answer to this. Is there some decent commercial software that will do the trick, without messing around with dictionary attacks and stuff...? I don't mind paying for something that works.
