aerospacemango Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Hannspree are all across Twitter at the mo.... I'd expect them to be fairly decent, but whether they'd be anywhere near the iPad, Samsung Tab or Motorola is doubtful.

Both reasonable devices for the price, the Android 2.3 is a slight handicap due to lack of proxy support but I was quite impressed on the whole. The mIscroll, for under £100 is a good buy- performs comparably with the tablets you'd be paying £300 for last year. Over all for student usage of Apps and browsing, both do the job, plus at this cost unlike the iPads, if they do start getting thrown about it won’t decimate your budget. Personal thoughts are with teachers pushing for iPads and other fancy tablets, give them one of these and get them to show SMT how it's going to improve teaching and learning (rather than just keeping up with the Jones'...!) . 1

With the MiScroll is there anyway of updating the Android system? also how well would it be for reading in the car or in bed? Thanks Dan

On upgrading the Android firmware, as you can imagine the official manufacturer line is that any changes to firmware invalidate warranty, equally (insert disclaimer here!) off the record I have been told that they can be rooted. Main issue is processor limitations and compatibility, would I be right in thinking you're considering some Honeycomb goodness on there?
