I remember having a conversation at BETT about LDAP integration and OSS, and the idea behind cloud services making the most of it... yet I cannot remember who with.

Nick Dennis (over at Felsted) are looking at *nix integration and Google, so if you have any experience or ideas (or you are the person I spoke with) a few folk would be interesting in having a chat.

Any contributions appreciated.

We tried openLDAP on a redhat server by tying in google accounts to ldap accounts. The theory behind it was when a person logs in they had access to their gmail and googledocs and such like on our linux machines. Needless to say it did not work very well.

Pretty complicated to setup though?

I've read some of the manuals. I don't think the setup is all that complicated (the install is very easy) just getting head around the terminology is the problem

It's pretty easy to register. IIRC a while back they only accepted LA registrations but have relaxed it now, presumably in light of academies. we registered ok.
