Active directory error Windows 2003

Hello

 

I got my server crashed and when i did repair from the CD it started and working. Since then i am not able to create new users. it always says

windows cannot verify that the username is unique because the following error occured while contacting the global catalog.

the server is not operational

 

Pls help

 

FYI i have got another backup domain controller on the network. I fiddled with DNS settings as well but lateron set them right. Can someone suggest me what all DNS setting should be there on a primary and backup domain controller

I was told that you should set the Primary DNS of one DC to point to the secondary and vice versa. Then point the secondary to it's self.

 

check the server that's running the global cat.. if it really wasn't working then no users could log in. maybe a dc promo or capture the roles it required but see what sites and services has to say.
