Podcast Publishing

Is anyone publishing podcasts on a regular basis and if so, what software are you using to it with?

 

(One of ICT Co-ords has been buiilding up some audio and he wants to publish them)

LibSyn is pretty good if you want a free hosted solution.

If you just want some software to run on the nearest LAMP server then have a look at PodAdmin

Well - haven't got very far so far.

 

Decided to make sure I could receive a podcast 1st - downloaded Juice (2nd most popular according to BBC) - tried pasting in the Chris Moyles Best bits - B&^^$r all happened.

 

Fiffed and faffed - I've got nowhere.

 

Eventually gave in and downloaded Itunes (against better principles ) and it worked 1st time - just got to make sure it doesn't take control over all my music

 

So - tomorrow back on with trying to publish - anyone out there actually doing this- for real - not just googlebotting

We have started playing with podcasts in blackboard.

It is very easy to do on a mac using garage band. Or just use audacity to create the mp3 and then create the rss by hand.

 

The thing with a podcast is it is only a podcast if it can be subscribed to via an rss feed. Otherwise it is just an MP3 you can download.

Podium (SoftEase) was demonstrated at the RM Primary Conference and seemed a very intuitive bit of software.

One thing to remember, it can be done for free with a bit of work Create your mp3 in audacity which is free

Create the RSS with somthing like

http://www.easypodcast.com/

Then upload the rss feed to a server with the mp3s and give people the link

 

eg http://myserver.com/pod.xml

 

and to be super clever also give

 

itpc: / / itpc://myserver.com/pod.xml to automatically open it in itunes

iTunes is a very nice bit of software for subscribing to podcasts with.

Well, the fault with Juice was me and not it :oops:

 

The auot subscribe didn't work (using Firefox) and I ended up trying to paste the link to the mp3 file isntead of the rss file :oops:

 

But success in other areas

 

I used this

to generate the rss file (but I'll have to look at that easypod creator - ta)

 

I also managed to embed a video and the audio as well

using Riva Encoder to produce the .flv file and these sites
