edutech4schools Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 http://googleappsupdates.blogspot.com/2011/06/google-apps-for-education-mailbox-sizes.html Just to stop MS running away Google have increased mailbox sizes to 25gb
FN-GM Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Wow a big increase. They are probably counting on that only a minority will use that much.
zag Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Wow, wonder what made them decide to do that I guess it has something to do with Microsoft Launching Office 365 today
CyberNerd Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I guess it has something to do with Microsoft Launching Office 365 today wouldn't have thought so. Google Apps is miles ahead of Office 365
sukh Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 you can get 26GB for MSFT, this is why I suspect Google have increased to match/competitive.
edutech4schools Posted June 28, 2011 Author Posted June 28, 2011 I am a Google fan but have you seen this? http://googleenterprise.blogspot.com/2011/06/365-reasons-to-consider-google-apps.html but they list about 4. lol
CyberNerd Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 you can get 26GB for MSFT, this is why I suspect Google have increased to match/competitive. The gmail quota is only for email. Google Docs storage is unlimited! You also get extra google space for other docs and pictures that don't count towards your email quota. of course, you can always pay to upgrade to a 1TB picasa account if you really need.
jbt52 Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Google is taking over the world, I am sure you all heard about Google+ by now?
zag Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 exchange is so dead in education IMO Agreed Expect Office 365 is basically a cloud exchange server.
GrumbleDook Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Office365 is a heck of a lot more than a cloud exchange server ... yes, you might have to pay for some stuff, but it is worth it. Having been a GApps user for a long time and having had to go back to running a system on it, the beta for Office365 was easier to work with, had more functionality for shared working within a business / department management ... but I know that others are looking for something different and GApps does it for them. But Office365 is a lot more than cloud exchange
CyberNerd Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 ^^ very interested to know what more functionality it has.... As far as I've seen Google has loads more associated apps
