CyBeRkId2002 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Hi all, We had our SIMs upgrade to SQL2008 carried out by our LA in the middle of lots of other things going on in the college. As a result I didnt think through the implication that we would be moving from a SQL2005 to the express edition of SQL2008. Now heres the question... It seems that SQL2011 will be released in the later part of this year. I am inclined to hold off as long as possible and wait until this is released to make sure we don't have another costly bill weeks/months later. If we go down this route how long after am I likely to be waiting on Capita to support SQL2011 after it is released? If I wait until it is released and buy that can I then install the full 2008, safe in the knowledge that we can upgrade to SQL2011 when it is Capita approved? What are others doing who may be in our position at the minute. Michael

I have seen the message regarding minimum specs but nothing which relates to the question I have above of how long it usually takes for SQL to go through the SIMs testing procedure.
