IE8 Favorites very slow..anyone seen this or know of a fix?

We have a couple of users who are complaining that their IE8 Favorites are running really slow and are causing a serious lag when moving the mouse.

 

I've verified this problem does exist, but only seems to affect the folders within Favorites when the user clicks the gold Favorites star (on the browser menu bar) and then moves the mouse over the folders.

 

I thought this may be due to the Favorites being re-directed to a Network share, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

 

Anyone seen this problem or know of a fix?

 

I have looked in all of the usual places for a fix and have drawn a blank at the moment..

 

Any advice/help welcomed.

in IE9 we found that if we did this - things were a lot snappier:

 

Tools-Internet Options - Advanced - Click : 'use Software rendering instead of GPU Rendering'

 

If that does it for you - it is possible to roll that out as a GPP hack.. if I can find the reg. key..

Thanks for the info., but that option does not appear to exist in IE8...only in IE9

To turn off hardware acceleration:

 

Select Start > Control Panel > Display

 

Select the General tab

 

Click the Advanced button.

 

Select the Troubleshoot tab

 

Drag the Hardware Acceleration slider to the left.

 

Click OK
