Uraken Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 hi all i just ran my first RIS riprep which went ok with no error and then tried to restore back to the same machine everything looked fine in terms of the machine being formatted etc but when it restarted i get disk boot failure? where do i begin in terms of fault finding where it went wrong is there a log file? any one else had this happen?
Uraken Posted March 22, 2007 Author Posted March 22, 2007 just checked the drive with Bartpe and all the files have been copied over ok?
Uraken Posted March 23, 2007 Author Posted March 23, 2007 just went to a normal xp install on this drive and got an error that it wasn't formatted correctly for xp and that it was a RAW drive ? not sure what happened when i tried to copy my Ris Rep image across but that can't be right.
Midget Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 I have to install a base copy of XP on the machine first before i can install my image
Uraken Posted March 23, 2007 Author Posted March 23, 2007 that sorted it mate although i have now been able to do subsequent installs on the same machine without doing a base image install first maybe it was just a quirk?
Midget Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 once the machine has had a base winxp image put on thats it it'll be fine from then there onwards. stupid i know
Uraken Posted March 24, 2007 Author Posted March 24, 2007 sort of defeats the object though hey? i want to use ris on my machines when they break so do i have to put base image on then ris image?
Midget Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 no no just the first time you do the machine, next time you want to image it you can just use your image alone
