rocknrollstar Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 We use FOG for our image deployment. We’ve just bought 32 netbooks, and I am making the default image at the moment. Putting XP SP3 on them, not ready to upgrade everything to Windows 7. The netbooks come with Win7 starter. They have about 3 partitions on the disk (recovery etc). For my default image, I’ve removed all the partitions and created 1 NTFS partition with the full size of the disk. Question is, when I deploy this single partition image to the netbooks that have multiple partitions on them, will everything be ok? Or do I need to prepare each notebook so that it has only 1 partition, and then do the deployment? Thanks for any advice offered!
morganw Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Windows XP over the top of Windows 7 should be okay. In terms of the recovery partition I think it will depend how it is implemented. I've always just imaged over the top of Dell and Lenovo recovery partitions out of the box. I've also overwritten RM Restore partitions with no problems, both out of the box and from a working environment. 1
rocknrollstar Posted June 10, 2011 Author Posted June 10, 2011 If it should be ok, I'll give it a test run. Thanks.
