Where is the redirection coming from??

Afternoon all.

 

Im sure i am being a complete spanner, and this is going to be really easy, but i cant see for looking.

 

Our students have redirected desktops/my doc etc. I can find teh policy where the My documnts are redirected but I cannot find the desktop policy. Its not there. I have run a policy wizard and results from GPMC and cant find any settings that im expecting to see.

 

Can someone shed any light on how I can find out.

 

The redirection is working because if I add a shortcut to the folder, it appears on the desktop.

Under your main redirect you sure you don't have a: "redirect all to same location" selected? or w/e it's called. Don't have access to policies atm.

 

There's also the redirect special folder part of it to check

Steve, when you say MAIN redirect, what part are you talking about? The My Documents do have the setting of Redirect to the same location but I thought that would be for just the My Documents.

Were using 2008 with XP Clients. Is there a different location for the redirected folders? am I missing something?

Dont panic. Fixed it...

 

Those silly cheese eating monkeys at the LA have decided that its a better solution to redirect folders with a logon script!! (system was initially set up by them many years ago before myself or my predecessor started)

 

I have previously started to decomission the logon script and move towards GP Prefs. one more thing to add to the list!
