Email flagged as spam

This is a general query about email from Yahoo, Mail.com, site5 domains, etc., ending up in people's spam folders. (Eg, in Yahoo). Could this be caused by something specific to the home computer it's being sent from...? Seems to happen randomly, but quite frequently, and I'm not sure how to identify the cause. (All I can find is stuff to check whether certain mail servers are blacklisted, but that's not much help with something like a Yahoo email address.) Edited June 6, 2011 by BJG

have you got rDNS setup for mail.yourschool.com ? also (if you have exchange) is the email policy set to school.local or school.com ?

One thing that helps when mailing either yahoo or gmail is setting up SPF records on your domain.

Basically an SPF is a TXT record on your external domain dns that lists ip's allowed to send mail as this domain. When mail comes in and pass's spf its more likely not to get marked as spam (although not a guarantee)
