Does anybody know the licensing for this? is it included in Select Agreements like ISA was?

 

Don't want the filtering parts just the firewall and NAT abilities

I purchased Forefront TMG on our select agreement about two weeks ago, without any problem.

so its an extra like Exchange/Sql not one of the freebies bundled in?

It's a seperate licence and is licenceed per processor. If you want the web protection part of it, that's licenced per user.

Depends on your agreement but in general it is not a bundled product in Select, you have to add it and it is liscenced per CPU. On the plus side it is cheap enough we pick it up for about $200 a year which would probably buy three cups of coffee and a sausage roll in UK currency.

More like 80GBP and thats under our agreement, yours may differ. It is worth checking to see if only to make a fair comparision.

Yeap, dupe, my 'quality' New Zealand 'broadband' was having one of its little fits again and it must have posted from advanced mode without redirecting back to the thread. The second try did redirect it properly but that of course posted it a second time because the first one had actually snuck through the great pacific extention lead and landed upon your shores.

TMG does all sorts including being a rather good firewall that inspects traffic it can handle credential collection and authentication, publish web services and sites with additional layer of security and split them out to different back end servers depending on headers or folder structure. It can act as a secure VPN service for clients or intersite communication and strip out lots of malware as it passes through. There is lots of stuff that it does, very little of which I have covered so although I wouldn't consider it exciting per say I would hate to manage many of my sites external and internal internet offerings without it.
