Right, I have a test environment of an exchange 2010 server which is running on Oracle Box. I have made allot of tweaks to the install so really dont want to start form fresh.

Does anyone know if I take a disk image of the server, using say Acronis, and then dump this disk image down onto the physical server, will it work, I know it may take a few boots to pickup hardware changes etc, that I can live with.

Anyway if anyone has tried this your feedback would be welcome.

I've read somewhere, where people have created a Ghost image of the virtual server and then installed it on to the physical. Or maybe it's possible to sysprep it and create an image from that and inject the drivers needed for the physical server, in to the image, but I'm not too sure.

you could try disk to vhd server 08r2 can boot from a vhd as well as a physical hdd not sure about drivers though may or may not work. Or why not just leave it as a vm i would of thought oracles virtual server would load images from virtualbox?

You could install the drivers for the new server on the virtual machine then ghost it to the new server, at worst you may have to do a repair install.

You can also boot windows 2008 R2 from a VHD

Hi Guys

Many thanks for your views and feedback. New server should be here in the next few days, so I will keep you posted on if this worked or not.
