Hi All,

Does anyone know if we can connect office 2011 to exchange server 2007(sbs 2008 edition exchange) using an outside network?

On windows platform I'm able to use outlook anywhere for this but I'm not sure if this work for office 2011.

Does anyone know of any way which I can connect to the exchange server when I'm using other network.

I really need help on this.

Thanks in advance

Simon

Make sure that Outlook's auto-discovery URL is visible to the outside world. If it is, then Outlook will self-configure from the user's email address.

Yeah this is no problem at all, as Karamoja said, make sure your autodiscovery.domain.com is available externally, and Outlook 2011 is excellent at auto-config. To be honest, I find it more reliable than 2010, 2010 has occasional identification issues which 2011 does not.

1. In addition to the autodiscover make sure that your extrnal DNS namespace is published, e.g mail.domail.com for services required.

2. Also, make sure you have have the correct certificates created with the correct names etc...

I've connected my Outlook 2011 with a Exchange 2007.

It works fine within the local network with the following url: "https://exchange-server-name.local-domainname.local/EWS/Exchange.asmx".

In the firewall I've configured a port forward for 443 to the exchange-server: therefore i also can access the exchange via "https://servername.dyndns.org/EWS/Exchange.asmx". This works also fine.

But always when I was within the local network Outlook 2011 changes the "servername.dyndns.org" back to "exchange-server-name.local-domainname.local" so I have always to reconfigure the URL in Outlook when I'm outside.

The redirect of the domain "servername.dyndns.org" within the local network works definitely 'cause my iPhone works with this domain inside an outside the local network perfectly.

Any hints / ideas????

Thanks a lot in advance.

I suspect this is being set up internal URL when you join back on the LAN. If you test this with Outlook 2010, do you get the same behaviour?
