Canon IP3500 - ink is not installed in correct position

I have a Canon IP3500 that has started reporting that the magenta and yellow inks are not installed in the correct position. The ink LEDs flash as though the inks were empty, which they're not, and the print driver reports: "An ink tank is not installed in the correct position. Confirm that the following ink tank is installed in the appropriate position. Magenta Yellow ."

 

I have swapped all the inks and the printhead with another IP3500 and the problem is still apparent on this printer.

 

The contacts in the printer that touch the ink chips look fine.

 

Is there anything else I can do?
