bondbill2k2 Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 We have recently setup a new samsung ml-4550 printer and its been great printing now and then no problems. Now teachers are sending mock papers consisting of a large amount of pages we are often getting errors, it will sometimes print 30 or so pages in a job on the spool then "error printing-the system could not read from the specified device" The files are not large either, logged as around 25KB each. We have also had it where we have had no issues for a number of jobs then all of a sudden this occurs again, turning the printer off and on solves the issue so it is reading from the device, the printer itself also just displayed "printing" on its screen when the error occurs.
plexer Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 I would expect 30 pages or so to result in a larger spool size than 25kb. Ben

bondbill2k2 Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 I've ased the printers users (about 5 teachers in the department) do log any issues they have and email me or leave me a note or add it onto the helpdesk with any details they can e.g. time, format, amount of pages. Nothing yet!
