How to prevent the Office 2008 AU Daemon from running

HI,

 

Our macs are bound to AD and OD. AD for authentication and OD for setting preferences using WGM. When a student launches Word they get the wretched "you don't have permission to use the application AU Daemon"

Firstly where does this program reside? students have access to the Applications folder.

Secondly, can I kill it for good? - I would prefer to update Word manually, as and when I want to.

Hi OSXMAN,

 

I now have the same issue with MS Office 2011. You wrote "Problem solved. Allowed network user access to the AU file.", but now how you went about it. I can't find any hint of an AU file anywhere. Can you please explain how you did it?
