AD time is 1 hour behind this morning - what will break when I fix it?

Now I think about it, I wonder why all our phones that have GPS built in can't sync time from it? My Android can only sync from NTP or the mobile network, but the data is clearly available because I can see it in the GPS Essentials app.

 

Hmmm, that sounds an interesting android app project, to make an android phone sync time with GPS and act as an NTP time source for your network. Might have a play with that.

Yeah, we don't want any of those dodgy foreign NTP packets, you really don't know where they've been and they'll be taking jobs away from our good honest British NTP packets

 

Yes, it's supposed to improve accuracy as you want minimum latency on this.

OK, it seems to be good news so far:

 

After reconfiguring the FSMO DC to sync from a different time source, it synced correctly. Logged in to each replica DC via RDP and ran w32tm /resync /rediscover, and they synced correctly with the FSMO DC.

 

I then moved on to the other servers, but before I could get to all of them, some had already resynced on their own. Same for some of the workstations I've hit so far. I've also tested a simple reboot and that kicks the time update into effect as well, so if any are being petulant tomorrow morning I can hopefully instruct users to restart them and all will be well.

Completely ridiculous, the UK packets will be consistently late will only set half the clocks on the system, disappear for hours on end without a trace.

 

Stick with europe.pool, they will always be on time and will cost you half the price....

if you're bothered about cost, use china.ntp.pool.org, quality may be a bit dubious and you may suddenly find an exact duplicate of your time being sold but hey, they're cheap.
