Ipod Touch Repairs

Dont know how but my daughter has managed to mess up the small contacts on the connection strip that is used to charge/connect her iPod. Its out of warranty (not that this would have been a warranty reapir anyway, dont think warranty covers being too rough with it!) anyway, has anyone had any experience with sending iPods back to apple for repair? Are they expensive, is it worth it? Is it quick? Or do I have any other options? No, just going out and buying a new one is not an option (she saved up and bought this herself).

It's not a difficult repair as long as you're careful and patient. The parts are readily available from eBay for next to nothing - the nack is getting it all apart without breaking something else/making it look like a rank amateur has had a go at it Use plastic tools/fingernails to prise open the case rather than metal and you should be OK, and save you a good wodge for repair bills too.

ive used these guys in the past iPAQ Repair and Parts :: ipaq spare parts replacement battery HP pocket pc repairs ipaq screen repair Compaq spare batteries ive just got my new iphone and my sister is having my old one but wants the battery replacing (on my suggestion!) and its going to cost her £25 from these guys.

Try taking it into an apple shop and asking them. I've known people who have done the same with other items and the shop has replaced the item in question. If it is a known defect or weakness of the product then you should be entitled to some sort of part warranty repair.

No go as only fault is the user and her inability to understand that there is a need to treat these things with respect! Thanks for the info.

If it was me ... im sure I could have a go myself at fixing it.

 

You dont have a daughter who would never let it be forgotten if I got it wrong and I would end up paying for a replacement, not an option as it does not teach her anything apart from letting Dad repair something means she gets the latest model! Rather let someone else do the job. If it was my own, yes I would do the cheapest option and do it myself.
