Having trouble installing ESXi 4.1

 

Have a HP dx2450 (AMD dual core, 4GB RAM)

 

getting an error when I'm trying to install.

 

vmkctl.hostctlexception: unable to load module /usr/lib/vmware/vmkmod/vmfs3: failure

I tried putting in network card and disabeling the on board, same error

Most likely to be your NIC, ensure your NIC is on the VMware HCL (Link Below) and if you have a specific card then disable any incompatible NIC's in the BIOS.

If this still doesn't work, or the drivers suggested by somabc, then try disabling any onboard RAID config you have, finally on some HP models the CD Driver is not recongised in 4.1, you can either install from a separate CD-ROM (external) or install 4.0 and perform an upgrade afterwards.

thanks andrew - tried installing 4.0 and its throwing up the error "no comptible network adapter found"...

 

seems like i've found the problem! can you recommend on network cards for me? thanks!
