Removing Rules from Exchange Mailbox

Does anybody know an easy way of removing rules setup through outlook remotely on the Exchange server?

 

We have students thinking its great to setup rules which when somebody emails them it replies with 400 emails!

 

I'm also getting his teacher to have a go!

Disable their account. They're misusing it so you should take it away.

Exchange 2k7 students use outlook 2k3

Yeah 2k7 has a seperate management console but i can't seem to find anything about exchange rules.

Seems to be for everything on the server

 

I know i just always have - my username used to be my full name so 1 stage better.

I was let down by google thats why i came here - the student should be coming up first thing tomorrow to get shouted out so i can do it that way.

@Glennda - This request is a little tricky, as my understanding is that rules are actually stored in the edb in the mailbox therefore you cannot just go into the edb directly and delete the rules. You may be able to prevent the users from creating further rules by using the Office .adm for Outlook 2003. This still means you will have to delete the current rules.

I just want to delete the rules - i'm going to be blocking his account from now on but i wasnt sure if there was a way of doing it easily.

 

We can't stop them making them as they need to be able to use it for part of the course they are doing!

If they're server side rules you should be able to give yourself full access rights over the mailbox, log on to OWA, then open another users folder, enter the username and go to the settings pane to fix it.

@Glennda - If you want to delete the rules then you will have to have access to that mailbox and then you can delete by creating a new MAPI profile for that user. You can restrict where the user can send emails to and delete the others. So if he has a rule, depending on the content or the intended recipients etc.., then you can prevent them from sending. If the rules has a common phase then we can filter these auto-replies from being delivered.

I'll give the suggestions a go. I just wanted to find another way of doing it rather then going through the mailboxes as i've done that before and the student went nuts along with mum and Dad (although they have signed the aup saying we can)

Do or do not, there is no try.

 

 

I think that may be the only way of doing it. They can get as annoyed with it as they like... They gave permission for you to do it, so they can't really do anything.

@Glennda - What you may be able to do is create a simple script to add to the logon script for this user or all users and run the following command which will delete the rules. If it's a one then you can amend once or you can leave in login script.

that will do - i'll make a group and apply that as a login script to the annoying students that keep doing it!

X EDIT: Nevermind. That should work. Set the /cleanclientrules at the end of the the .exe [in properties] and it'll delete on run.

I thought /cleanrules was the one that deleted everything. /cleanclientrules should just nuke the ones that user made.
