Hi,

I've got a Smart UF55w that’s on the network.

What 'cool' stuff can I do with this?

I can access the web management page and do stuff, but that’s all rather boring! Can I output to the projector over the network? I tried using the 'Connect to network projector' in windows 7 but it couldn’t connect.

Is there any fun stuff I can do with this now it's on the network..?

This is not new equipment. Had smart boards and projector for quite a long time. The projector its self has never been connected to network however.

I've already seen and read parts of that manual and am aware that the web management is for that...management.

Like i said though...thats rather boring!:)

I'm more asking what are the advantages of having the projector on the network for a teacher/student?

What new exciting stuff can they do? are you using yours on the network? If yes, do you find any of the network features are helpful to them?

I've seen that smartboard have some more software products and i'm going to take a look at them. Just wondering what you guys are doing with your smart projectors that are on the network.

thanks!

From my experience for a student or teacher it has no advantages. The general use for network connectivity is for SNMP traps and management which can be used to setup "Admin" alerts for limited customizable events such as bulb failure etc.

The Windows 7 connection you see is most likely because it's a UPNP device and you should in effect be able to connect to the web interface (depending on port configuration)

I wish there was something more exciting.

As an aside I am currently awaiting a demo model of the 460i which essentially does away with the IWB and allows for a modicum of latitude when it comes to teacher wall placement

Thanks Exos,

Thats a shame it doesnt offer much for students and staff. I've already set up alerts on the management, which will be handy from an admin side. I'll take a look at the additional products on the smart website and see if any of them look good and usefull.
