Fujitsu Amilo Laptop

I have had a laptop brought in, which we suspect to be a shorted motherboard because the student was messing about with ports in the back etc, but when you switch it on it wont do anything. The light comes on and CD drive spins but the fans do not and it doesn't boot into the BIOS. Any ideas anyone, done some research on internet and it says about dusty fans etc but it is all OK. It stays switched on for about a minute and then switches back off.

Can be awkward to get at depending on the laptop, but it has occasionally brought machines back to life for me !

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!! :D It worked and the laptop is now working brilliantly again. The student will be pleased, he even brought me two packs of chocolate digestives prior to me fixing it lol as payment.
