Hi,

I am using Google Apps for e-mail on my domain. I want to create a SPF record to help combat any spam that may happen.

I followed this guide: SPF records - Google Apps Help

When i create the record i get the attached.

In the first text box under "Record Host" i am not sure what to put.

In the second box i assume i put: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all

If anyone can confirm please?

Thanks

Use "@" in the first box and that should allow no subdomain to send but the "domain.com" to send. * would allow any subdomain too. Remember its about the email from field, not say if the email was sent from a server on http://www.domain.com, the emails domain is still "domain.com" and not "www.domain.com"

Try it in Sender Policy Framework (SPF) Record Lookup - MxToolbox after to see if its working.

Hi,

I put the * in the first box as an A record because if a user goes to an invalid sub domain it takes them to a holding page with adverts.

EDIT: or are you talking about the box at the far bottom for the txt record? Sorry its been a long day!

For the rest of the post i am lost, sorry :)

Thanks

I have had a look, im a little lost by it to be honest.

Google apps provide the setting to use this is: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all

I am just wondering what goes in the first box on the attached image. Do i put mail.example.com or something else?

Try and put an @ or blank and see if it accepts that (it should tbh) then run the tester I linked in the first post.
