AGraham Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Hello, I've just recently started a new job and am going to through trying to familiarize myself with the network. I came across a trust that was broken. Come to find out the, the domain listed is no longer online. I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to delete the trust. I've used the ntdsutil to perform a metadata cleanup but of course I can't connect to the domain in order for it be listed to select deletion. We're using Windows Server 2003 and I've searched high and low for an answer. I appreciate whoever takes the time to read this and respond. Thanks. Al
mtdmitchell Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Try going into adsiedit.msc and removing the trust from AD manually - im sure you can view the trust and remove it from there , i will have a look at work tomz to confirm. Other wise you might have to leave it - its not doin any harm is it? probably annoying though. 1
sukh Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Hi Try to use the command below netdom trust TrustingDomainName /d:TrustedDomainName /remove /UserD:User/PasswordD: /force Enter the appropiate details in the Trusting and Trusted domain. The force parameter should remove all metadata and trusts for domains where the DC cannot be contacted or has been decomm'ed. Sukh 1
AGraham Posted March 15, 2011 Author Posted March 15, 2011 Well, I appreciate the help. Turns out that we're upgrading and doing fresh installs soon so I've been told we're not going to worry about it. Thanks for all the help and good information.
