Little-Miss Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 We've got a managed Wireless system which is used mainly for our 40 Netbooks and a handful of teachers laptops. Every so often i get a few laptops that wont connect to the wireless using the one they are setup to (i cant think of any technical terms today, tired and have man flu). They will quite happily connect to our guest account when you give it the wep key. The laptop just sits on Validating. As i said, its only ever a handful, others log on quite happily. Any ideas? Has bugged me for a while and defys the point of having authentication if i have to put them on the guest one.

Little-Miss Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 The time is the same as the network. Interesting you mention DHCP...if one was running out of IP's would this be an issue.... ?
featured_spectre Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 it would only be an issue if you were not releasing the IPs for a LONG time (anything over 48 hours is considered a long time by DHCP). I have ours set to auto renew every 8 hours, that way the IP leases stay current and no lingering addresses are there. 1
stevenlong1985 Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Double check the event log on your server in under "system" I had the issue last week when my DHCP became corrupt :'( once fixed, netbooks quickly came back on the network.
