Can someone please help me get around a problem with installing new fonts. I have a computing class that I normally teach how to download and install fonts. Of course the Windows/Fonts folder is not accessable by students so what we normally do is preview the font, then open the program eg MS Word, GIMP etc and the font would appear in the font list to be used.

The problem I have is that now when we preview the font and then open the program, the font will not appear in the font list to be used. Does anyone have a suggestion that my students can use?

Many thanks for any ideas.:)

Hi SneakyBeaky

No, no error messages it just doesn't show up in the font list. I can unzip the font file and preview the ttf file, but then when I have it open and then open MS Word the font is not in the font list like the previous version use to do. I have printed off the links that you had in your message and will try them. Thank you

Do you get any error messages? Is the font file compressed?

Is it compatible with Windows 7 i.e Truetype or Opentype?
