alternative smtp port

Ive got a mate here who has started working for a london based company. They have given him smtp/pop details for his new email account. Problem is his home ISP blocks port 25. They force you to use their own smtp server. This is fine if his laptop happens to be at home, but most of the time he works away from home, and so having the home isp smtp doesnt work.

 

Apart from creating 2 seperate accounts , one for home using the local home isp smtp, and the other using the proper smtp, is there anything else i can suggest?

 

The email for the company in london is provided by uk2.net ive searched their pages but cannot find if they offer an alternative smtp port to use - does anyone know this company and if they do or not?

Depending on the setup he may be able to connect to the company VPN and then send/receive. It depends on the type of VPN (assuming there is one!), and whether 'use default gateway on remote network' is set.

theres no vpn they have just provided him with pop/smpt email

Why not just set up a gmail account and get that to send/receive mail for his work account.

 

Edit: In settings, Account and Import, add a pop3 account, then in send mail from another address set up his business email address.

following that link a step further, it seems theres a couple of ports available.. ill try them.. cheers.
