Quackers Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Anybody managed to get this deployed via Group Policy? I am struggling with it. Had a go using these instuctions, but no joy get the error they do, (25003) How to Deploy Microsoft .NET Framework 4 with Group Policy | windows server howto
Quackers Posted January 31, 2011 Author Posted January 31, 2011 Can't this be done with wsus? I prefer to avoid WSUS, i want to be sure this update goes out and is installed on reboot, or if a workstation is rebuilt its done with everything else.
riffleman Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Group Policy can't guarantee it gets installed, it only sends it out at reboot and you have no record of a successful install, or not as the case maybe. At least with WSUS you can assign a time for install and get a report of whether it has been successfully been installed. As to ensuring it gets installed following a rebuild, I'd recommend a visit to the MS Update site following the rebuild anyway, then there's no waiting for it to be deployed and reduces a big hit on your WSUS server. The method you've highlighted seems like an awful lot of work for something that is very straightforward to deploy via WSUS.
