Sheridan Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 I'm looking into allowing mobile devices access to our ruckus wireless system. Currently we have only domain members pcs using this over 802.1x/WPA with RADIUS(PEAP/MSCHAP) I've added another wlan which allows a user to authenticate (again with RADIUS) but without being a domain member - this seems to work only only certain devices. Iphones work and connect, Nokias don't( they say EAP-PEAP authentication error) and there is nothing on the RADIUS log for them. Anyone got nokia's to connect with Ruckus? Also on this track, as I only want to allow these devices to use our internet (throttled bandwidth thanks to ruckus) is there a way I can pass these clients the proxy server address?
White_Fi Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Hi Sheridan, You can pass the proxy settings on to a client using your DNS and the best approach is to look into WPAD. If the clients are connecting to a Guest type WLAN then v9.2 due for release the end of Q1 will allow for unauthenticated clients to get the proxy file. As for the other one are there no connection attempts found on the IAS logs? Thanks Stuart
Sheridan Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 Its not a guest WLAN as such, just a seperate one that requires authentication (using Radius). I've added a DNS entry for wpad to point to the web proxy but no luck. Its a bit odd as some devices won't connect (Nokia require the certificate) and Apple just doesn't seem to work with any settings (using wpad or pointing it to the proxy.pac file) I'm really only trying to allow users to connect using their network credentials from any device (but onto a throttled wlan connection) that only allows filtered access to the internet.
