steve_nfi Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I have a problem with a couple of laptops. When they try to print a document from Word it fails saying that the print drivers have to be reinstalled or the printer is off etc. Sometimes if you copy the text from said document and paste it into a new blank one it will print. If you go to the printer properties and print a test page, it prints fine every time. Has anyone else had a similar problem? and better still have a solution. My next step is to try re-installing word unless there is another answer.
elsiegee40 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 What version of Windows, what versiion of word? Is the printer installed locally or on the server (what's the server OS)? How are printers deployed? Sorry about the questions, but it might help with the answers.
steve_nfi Posted January 18, 2011 Author Posted January 18, 2011 The problem now doesn't appear to be with Word, it appears to be with the access point that the laptop is connecting through. I took the laptop to our office and connected wirelessly through another AP and it printed fine to the same printer. I thought that this might just have been due to me logging on as administrator but when I moved back to the staffroom and tried to print again the laptop had connected through a different AP and wouldn't print. The OS for the laptop is XP SP3, the printer is networked on a Server 2003 OS. Any ideas about that.
