MatthewL Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Does anyone know of any forum software that integrates well with active directory without loads of work? I've just had an email asking if at all possible.
glennda Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I looked at it a while ago and Vanilla looked good just needed some work to it.
Gatt Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 We're using phpBB - which links into AD/LDAp easily enough...
MatthewL Posted January 16, 2011 Author Posted January 16, 2011 Thanks for that, I will have a look at phpBB as I have used it in the past.
sted Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 We're using phpBB - which links into AD/LDAp easily enough... works on 2000/2003 cant get it to work on 2008/r2 servers though
Gatt Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 It does work with 2008-R2 What settings you got?
TheScarfedOne Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Going to say the dirty word "Sharepoint"... but then again, history says I would being a fan boy! LOL. Seriously though... AD aware (obviously!), free (well the Foundation Ver is).... depends what and where you are planning to use it really
featured_spectre Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Actually stuart has a point about Sharepoint. Works best with it and will soon be free! 1
sted Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 It does work with 2008-R2 What settings you got? its been a while i cant remember i think its me not being really familiar with iis6 and my how to files for iis5 dosent translate well
Gatt Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Ah.. I have it installed on Linux.. Is phpBB working at all or is it just the authentication May be easier to download WAMP ...
TheScarfedOne Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Actually stuart has a point about Sharepoint. Works best with it and will soon be free! There has been a free version around a while... WSS3 was free (the baby brother of Sharepoint 2007), and WSS3 aka Sharepoint Foundation 2010 is free. The full product Im not sure on costs of at the moment - still trying to get my head around the licensing announcements. Head over to the Learning Env section, I have posted in there about Forums before - and I think there is some bits on my blog about it too. Has to be said, the forum support in 2010 (both versions) is a lot better. You can do "Mod" control using content approval... I will go back and sit in my fan boy corner now.... i dont usually post in this area lol! :-0
glennda Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 If it uses the same way that samba does to connect to ad then you have to change the ntlm security settings as win7/svr 2k8 uses a higher version. But more info about it on Google Toby
sted Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Ah.. I have it installed on Linux.. Is phpBB working at all or is it just the authentication May be easier to download WAMP ... i dont think i got phpbb working
