rob998 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 This is a strange one for you guys! We have mandatory profiles for our pupils and have done for a long time without any problems. Recently I have been getting complaints about machines taking 10mins or so to log off. That has been since we returned from the holidays. Nothing has been changed as I was off for the 2 weeks. I have checked the usual places event logs on machine servers but there is nothing. I have checked permissions with no luck. I have UHPS installed but that makes no difference. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Rob
maark Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 We had this a while back - turned out to be sophos - had to alter a setting - tick exclude remote files. You could try safe mode with networking and then try disabling different services to try and narrow it down. Another possibility is a log off script that is not valid. 1
rob998 Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 Thanks for the quick reply. I have gone into the SEC and altered the Anti-virus/HIPS policy to exclude remote files. I'll let you know how it goes.
TechSupp Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Ah!!!! Now thtas a good find, was just about to post a message about this. Installed the new Sophos over Chritsmas and today noticed that users with roaming profiles took ages to save settings and log off! Will check that out now and alter the setting.
TechSupp Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 (edited) Right, just logged on to SEC and looked at HIPS policy but what do I exclude to stop it slowing up log off? The OP said 'remote drives'. Sorry if my questions seems a little thick, but its getting late and cant seem to think this out at the moment! Just having another thick moment, looking at bit more in to it, I have a policy for the server which has 'on access' scanning turned off, so I presume its on the client pc policy that has 'on access' scanning turned on that I click the box for 'remote files' in the windows exclusions screen? Could someone confirm that is correct or is it another thick moment I'm having? Edited January 6, 2011 by TechSupp
MaXiM Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Ditch them... they are more trouble than they are worth.. use roaming. I found myself constantly having to cook up another profile every time a new bit of software was installed.. it became way too frustrating.
TechSupp Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Just a quick reply now things have settled here a bit, my mandatory profiles are OK to log off now, but roaming profiles seem to be taking longer now that the new Sophos is installed. Same solution? Got the policy checked to not check remote files, but best check the policy has applied soon as I get chance, unless its something else.
