Selling an iMac - Price etc

Dear All,

 

With the forthcoming release of the Sandy Bridge i5's my thoughts are turning to a PC upgrade. I am currently running a 20" Aluminium iMac, but exclusively use Windows 7 now through Boot Camp so am thinking about selling the iMac to fund the upgrade.

 

I've seen a few on eBay which has put a price idea in my mind, but wondered what you fine people here thought would be the market value.

 

The machine is specced as follows:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8335 2.6GHz, 2Gb RAM, 320Gb Hard Disk, ATI Radeon HD 2600XT Graphics. Would be selling loaded with OS X Snow Leopard, Office Mac 2008 and Adobe CS4 Web Premium (Photoshop, Flash, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Contribute, SoundBooth) with discs and licences included.

 

eBay listings suggest that a figure of around £500 would be acheivable. What do you guys and girls think?

I'd side with eBay's suggestions, with current market state £500 seems reasonable - I assume you've made use of the Completed Listings search too to gauge actual sales.

Like any sale the price you get is the price which someone else is willing to pay but I suspect a baseline price of £500 would be a good place to start

 

As you have stated you are upgrading and you find that it would be better with a PC and windows 7 so how many other people will feel the same way?

Thanks for the responses, guys. Glad some others think I'm in the right ballpark.

 

@AngryITGuy: Thanks for the suggestion of Mac2Sell - that came up with £480, but didn't account for the software so very useful.

 

@Bossman: I'm hoping to target someone who actually wants/needs a Mac and OS X for the sale - the iMac only doesn't suit me so well as I am now exclusively a Windows user again.
