Xerox 8560 solid ink printers - anyone tried compatibles?

As usual there's a major difference between original and compatible prices.

 

Was wondering if anyone here uses the above printer, and if they've shoved compatibles in. How did they respond?

Didn't have a 8560 but a 8400 but the principles the same. First thing to go is the tonal quality of the colours - they tend to look muddy, the next is the consumption - this tends to go up negating some of the savings involved and finally the print head (nozzels matrix) tends to block at a greater rate and this is bye bye pinter problem when it gets obvious as the heads are the same cost as the printer..

To be honest having run these type of printer as a main stream printer and a specialist printer for the heads PA I would only run them as specialist printers.

Hi - I have used compatible inks for over 4 years - never had any real problems like new print heads etc.

I have never had a problem with colour variations etc. over 60,000 prints.

I use Media Sciences ink

I use compatibles in our one, and have so far had no problems with then, and they are a lot cheaper. We have only had it for 6 months thou.

It's a bit off topic for this thread but recently our printer said it needed a new maintenance kit, so I ordered one and when it arrived I put into the printer. Now after installing the new maintenance kit it is telling me that it is the incorrect one. I checked with the company I bought the kit from and they said it was the correct one. I then asked Xerox about it and they've said they will have to send an enigneer out to look at it so before I go ahead with that thought I would ask on here if anyone has had this issue before?

Ink and maintenance kit differs between versions of the printer, so if you have a metered ink one (usually ones that are leased) other than one you own yourself they will use different consumables - well, the same but chipped different.
