I don't manage our Exchange server and so I guess that we won't be deploying this. But it did look interesting and I though others here might like to see it.

 

Message continuity will "...replicate your Exchange users' mail, calendar entries, and contacts -- but tasks are not supported at the moment."

Does sound interesting. I wonder how much it gets involved? What I mean by that is most companies that offer this redirect email through their servers and then onto your exchange so that in the event of failure, it is the end point that goes not the middle, meaning you have you old emails, and not last minute redirection is needed.

It claims, for their per user price (will it be free for Edu?), to handle calendar and contacts items so it has to be more be a MITM for inbound/outbound SMTP. In fact it has to do something locally to get hold of internal<->internal e-mail. Perhaps you can set it up as an external Journaling service, but I didn't think (might be wrong) that coped with calendar and contacts.

 

I wouldn't be that interested, but I'm contemplating the other direction i.e. continuity when a cloud e-mail service is unavailable (bet that won't be for long though), journalling and archiving from there etc.
