Joomla - Alert/Warning Module

Hi there,

 

I've just been asked by the Deputy Head to see if we can setup something on our website so that when someone visits our homepage, there is a small but noticable alert box somewhere that can be updated with school closure info should we have any adverse weather conditions etc etc.

 

We currently use the Edugeek Joomla template but we don't like the school status box.

 

What do you guys and gals do for this?

We have a leading article that you could'nt possible be miss if there is a chance of the school being closed due to the adverse weather

I thought there maybe some sort of traffic light system available. ie:

RED - Popup appears informing the visitor to the site that the school is closed etc etc. Click ok and the message will remain as an alert somewhere on the page.

AMBER - No popup but maybe a slow flashing allert somewhere on the page

GREEN - just a small note to say the school is open as normal.

You could just publish a new front page article with big red letters "The School is closed yipeeee!!!!!"

This has to be this simplest possible thing to do as the Deputy struggles even to remember his email address!
