cfp Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Can anyone get Fronter to work with Safari? Login seems to work fine but then it always seems to get stuck on the waiting graphic. The activity window says that there is a "bad server response" or on other machines I get a 303 error. The problem seems to be with loading the personalframe. With some jiggerypokery I can sometimes get the personal frame to load and then the whole of the today page but then a reload sometimes gets the error and sometimes reloads the frame. All very inconsistent. Using Safari 5.0.2 on OSX 10.5.8 and Safari 4.1.2 on OSX 10.4.11
Face-Man Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 We have had Fronter working fine here on safari but I've not used it since they update Fronter to Y10. Do you go via a proxy / cache ? I've had to change it to bypass them both in the past which does slow it down
cfp Posted November 18, 2010 Author Posted November 18, 2010 Interesting, thanks. I don't think it can be a proxy issue as the problem occurs whether at my home or at my work. I might have gone for a problem with a particular version of Safari but it is happening on both the Intel laptop and the old PowerPC G4. I vaguely thought I had previously accessed using Safari but cannot be sure as I usually use FF. I am trying to deal with the (so many) problems that students are having accessing Fronter in the evenings at home. I've had people freeze on the waiting page, get dropped on a blank white page, have pages freeze when opening Scorm courses, etc. This was the first problem I was able to reliably replicate.
cfp Posted November 19, 2010 Author Posted November 19, 2010 Hmm. It's working better today but still not perfectly. Now I am getting to the Today page about half the time and the other half I get stuck on waiting. As a quick test I loaded Fronter and got there first time, reloaded the page and got there again but on the third and fourth attempts got stuck on loading, then one more success and one more fail. No problems using FF. Very odd. It is always the personalframe.phtml that causes the error.
MrBitey Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Hi there, Fronter Y10 is working fine on Safari here... we are going through the LGFL proxy and so far no problems anyway. We also use it on Firefox and I do have issues there... The Multiple File upload tool doesn't work (some sort of Java issue I guess). So whilst I use Firefox for most of my browsing/Fronter stuff I have to switch over to Safari to upload anything big or more than one file at a time. Kids are using Safari with no issues though... cheers MrB 1
