itgeek Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Hi how do you map a drive to a windows share from ubuntu desktop? Thanks
_Bob_ Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 https://help.ubuntu.com/9.10/internet/C/connecttoserver-windowsshare.html The network share doesn't get a 'drive' as it does in windows. In Linux everything sits somewhere in a single filesystem. You'll get a handy desktop icon for mounted network shres tho.
glennda Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Or you can mount to a folder on the local drive for eample you can set /data to be \\server\share using the SMBMount
frosty Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I was going to go down that route until j17Sparky suggested WinSCP in this thread. Hope it helps you? I have been using for 3 days now and having no issues at all.

frosty Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Oops. Maybe I should read the thread properly!
