moved sims sql database but logins not moved

I`m moving sims from one sql 2008 server to another I`ve detached the database from one and reattached it to the other but cant login as the logons havent transferred over. All users are down as users under the sims database but arnt there as logins any ideas where I`ve gone wrong and how I can rectify it?

Firstly, by this I assume that you are not using AD integration, you are using separate SIMS passwords?

 

Did you use the SIMS db attach tool to detach the database? If so there should have been the option to drop SQL logins. I believe (not used in a year) that if you use this option the passwords can transfer with the database.

just checking the basis, have you update the connect.ini file to point to the new server?

have you allowed remote connections to the sql server - i think by default this is disabled
