Eclipse .net testing to live environment

Hi,

 

I've discovered today that if I copy over the old Eclipse2 database to Eclipse .net, and keep the old system running in the background still being used, it's not then possible to transfer over the latest loans information when we come to making the system live.

 

This seems daft? How have other schools got round this? I assume they've not done it during term time but that's not really an option for me.
