word 2003 page numbering aaargh!

i have a 50 page admin document that needs to have the first 2 pages with no numbering and then consequent pages starting from the number 1

 

i've put a section break in-between the actual second and third pages.

 

the sections are thus

 

section 1 page 1 & 2 no numbering

section 2 page 3-50 numbering starting at 1

 

i have to insert the page number on page (3) unlinked and (4) before 3-50 is correct but when i do the page (4) for no reason section 1 page 2 gets a page 2 number and when i delete it pages 4-50 loose their numbers

 

what the hell is going on!!!?

If you go to Insert > Page Numbers, you can untick "Show number on first page", but as far as I am aware, you can't do this for two pages.
