Gatt Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Setup: Server: Windows Server 2008 R2 with only Print Management role installed Client: Windows 7 Ent - 32Bit Printers: OKI C5650 I have added the printers to R2 with boththe x86 & x64 drivers, shared them and deployed them to a GPO as "Per Machine" The client corerctly picks up the printer assignment after a GPO Refresh and reboot I try and print a test page from the client - it shows in the clients print queue and in Print Mangement Console but the document never arrives at the printer. I do a test print FROM Print Management console on the server - it prints out immediately.. The only time the client prints is when I connect it driectly to the printers IP address.. I have rebuilt the server to no avail.. Anyone got any clues? The only thing I can think of doing is downgrading the Server to 32Bit Windows 2008 and trying again... Both 32bit abnd 64bit drivers work, just not when connected to the share...
Gatt Posted October 29, 2010 Author Posted October 29, 2010 Right I finally resolved this issue.. I downgraded to Windows 2008 x86 - though now don't think I really needed to. All I did was remove the tick from the "Render print jobs on the client computer" option in the printer sharing tab...
oxide54 Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 ok thanks for letting us know. I swapped a lot of our print queues over half term, it'll be interesting to see whether we have this problem. i tested a few from the workstations and they seemed ok.
