Student photos on website?

Does anyone know the current legalities surrounding student photos on our school website? Can there be no photo of any student at all on our website without prior parental permission, or is it ok so long as the names aren't disclosed?

 

If there is some literature somewhere that'd be even better!

That has been the case for a long time and makes perfect sense.

 

Just type 'photgraphs' into the 'search'. Your LA may have specific guidelines or policies but ultimately it is probably the Head who has the final word.

We have a letter going out with all new starters for parents to sign agreeing (or opting out) of photos used for displays/website/newspapers etc. All pictures taken should be checked with the file before being used.

If you use SIMS there is a whole section, 12 Parental Consent, for photos, internet access, school visits etc.
