NorthernNoel Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Just when I think i'm getting there I now have another error C:\Windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\Trackid.DLL is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. It's one of our Ricoh copiers and the error is intermittant. I've updated the driver as I did have problems where they wouldn't connect sometimes. Why does printing appear to be so hard in 2008 R2 and Win 7??!!! Never had this problem with XP.
sted Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 tell me about it im fed up with printers ive had to start making 2003 vms just as print servers. Last one went screwey for no reason though some machines can go to \\printsvr other cant and while the main server can see \\printsvr\netlogon the print server itself cant its silly then i run across leeds to look ata a schools having printer issues and just for a laugh it starts working almost exactly as im signing in grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Which driver are you using? We've found the universal driver not so brilliant on the Ricoh and depending on model try either the PCL6, PCL 5 or RPCS driver specific for that machine. Also ensure that the 64-bit and the 32-bit are exactly the same version number.
NorthernNoel Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 We've set up a 32bit server in the end. Originally I was using the PCL6 driver which failed to install sometimes. At the moment I'm using the PCL5 driver for the actual model of the machine.

NorthernNoel Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 Error is on the clients. Seems with all printer problems that I've had they're intermittant as well.
teejay Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Typical, one model we don't have! All our Ricoh Alfico MPC's are running the PCL 6 driver with no problems at all. We also have one queue running the RPCS driver with no problems.

Ok, next question then - what are the clients 32bit or 64bit? If 64bit, then you'd need to have the 64bit driver on the server as well as the 32bit in order for it to work.
NorthernNoel Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 Nope it's all 32bit. Nice and simple
