mcnallyfc Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 (edited) Hi all Wondering if anyone can help, we have a few issues at our school. We usually export data from NovaT4 in 3 different files for our LEA to import them onto Moodle and its email system we use. The problem is that staff here are now not using NovaT4 (so out of date) and we cant get SIMS to export the same data. LEA are adament that NovaT4 should be used but surely the data can be exported from SIMS? The format that they need to be in is as follows: > FNOVA > > 2878,Test,SNamexxxx,22.04.97,#,17 > xxxxxxxxx,---,Cardiff,Cardiff,Cardiff,CF99 499,CF99 > 499,M,9E,9S/Ar,9S/D,9S/Dr,9E/Dt,9E/En1,9S/Fr,9S/Gg,9S/Hi,9S/It,9A/Ma3, > 9S/Mu, 9S/Pe,9S/Re,9A/Sc2,9S/Sp,9S/We,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, > 3077,Bloggs,SNamexxxx,29.11.97,#,5 > xxxxxxxxx,---,Cardiff,Cardiff,Cardiff,CF99 > 599,CF99 > 599,F,8A,8A/Ar,8A/D,8A/Dr,8A/Dt,8E/En3,8A/Fr,8A/Gg,8A/Hi,8A/It,8A/Ma2, > 8A/Mu, 8A/Pe,8A/Re,8A/Sc2,8A/Sp,8A/We,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, > 3282,Another,SNamexxxx,29.07.99,#,61 > xxxxxxxxx,---,Cardiff,Cardiff,Cardiff,CF99 > 299,CF99 > 499,M,7R,7R/Ar,7R/D,7R/Dr,7R/Dt,7a/En3,7R/Fr,7R/Ma,7R/Mu,7R/Pe,7R/Sc,7 > R/Sm,7 > R/We,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, > 2879,Again,SNamexxxx,03.01.97,#,34 > xxxxxxxxx,Ely,Cardiff,Cardiff,Cardiff,CF99 > 299,CF99 > 499,F,9E,9D/Ar,9D/D,9D/Dr,9E/Dt,9E/En3,9D/Fr,9D/Gg,9D/Hi,9D/It,9B/Ma1, > 9D/Mu, 9D/Pe,9D/Re,9B/Sc1,9D/Sp,9D/We,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, > > > FTIME > > > 7A/Ar,Mon A 3,T51,JM,Thu B 4,T51,JM > 7A/D,Thu A 4,DAN,JR,Thu B 2,DAN,JR > 7A/Dr,Thu A 5,C4,LS1,Fri B 2,C4,LS1 > 7A/Dt,Tue A 2,T52,JD,Tue B 2,T52,JD,Wed B 1,T52,JD,Wed B 2,T52,JD > 7A/Fr,Wed A 5,C8,SDA,Fri A 5,C8,SDA,Mon B 5,C8,SDA 7A/Ma,Mon A > 5,M26,BDV,Wed A 4,M26,BDV,Tue B 1,M26,BDV,Thu B 1,M26,BDV,Fri B > 4,M26,BDV 7A/Mu,Mon B 2,P34,ST1,Wed B 5,P34,ST1 7A/Pe,Mon A > 4,MAC,LKS,Wed B 4,MAC,LKS,Fri B 1,MAC,LKS 7A/Sc,Mon A 1,S46,BH,Tue A > 5,S46,BH,Thu A 1,S46,BH,Tue B 5,S46,BH,Thu B 5,S46,BH 7A/Sm,Mon A > 2,H37,JD,Tue A 1,H41,JD,Tue A 4,H41,JD,Wed A 1,M28,TC,Wed A > 2,H37,JD,Wed A 3,M28,TC,Thu A 2,H37,JD,Fri A 1,H37,JD,Fri A > 4,M28,TC,Mon B 3,H37,JD,Tue B 3,H41,JD,Tue B 4,H41,JD,Wed B > 3,M28,TC,Fri B 3,H37,JD > > > FTEACH > > 1: ,TO,Mrs Test One,50,50,40,23,39,1,10,Dt, > 2: ,TT,Mrs Test Two,50,50,16,0,0,0,50,Ma, > 3: ,TMT,Mrs Test M Three,50,50,41,42,27,3,20,Dr, > 4: ,MF,Ms Mark Four,50,50,36,24,24,3,23,En, > 5: ,TUT,Mrs Test Under Three,50,50,40,33,34,3,13,En, > 6: ,RT,Mrs Roger Tool,50,50,40,8,16,0,34,Gg, > 7: ,DP,Mrs Dinky Poo,50,50,42,40,42,4,4,Ma, > 8: ,KS,Mr Killer Sandwich,50,50,36,38,36,1,13,Dt, > 9: ,LKS,Mrs Local Kool Sir,50,50,42,40,42,4,4,Pa, > 10: ,MPK,Mr Mitch P Knight,50,50,41,44,40,4,6,Hi, > 11: ,NJR,Mrs Nobby Jones Roger,50,50,36,24,31,10,9,En, > 12: ,TSG,Ms Toni Super Govenor,50,50,36,39,39,5,6,En, FNOVA is pupil data plus the class codes that they belong to. FTIME is the classcodes with day, week, time and teacher for each lesson. FTEACH is the teacher information. Can this be done via SIMS? Edited September 15, 2010 by mcnallyfc
Sivadam Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 NovaT4 is still supported by Capita for Reporting purposes and hence can still be used. It is a simple matter to just update the staff and then export the timetable from NT6 to NT4. Alternatively. the new NT4 type Reports in SIMS will deliver the same data once you get your head around how to use it! 1
mcnallyfc Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 NovaT4 is still supported by Capita for Reporting purposes and hence can still be used. It is a simple matter to just update the staff and then export the timetable from NT6 to NT4. Alternatively. the new NT4 type Reports in SIMS will deliver the same data once you get your head around how to use it! thanks for the input - im new to SIMS and NovaT so excuse my lack of knowledge but just to clarify your points. When you say update staff and then export timetable - do you generally mean get admin to update the NovaT4 data and just use that? My original post was misleading in that admin staff havent updated NovaT4 as were told originally SIMS could do it - now the LEA say no it cant. So AFAIK a years of data hasnt been inputted. Also how would i go about running the old style NT4 reports in SIMS? is it a case of trial and error and getting used to the report system? Would it be useful if i got the admin team to contact Capita about this - could they offer advice/training of how to replicate the date? Thanks!
Sivadam Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 (edited) You just need to ensure that any new staff have been Input and are 'On Roll' in NT4 and that any that have left are 'deleted'. Also ensure that any new Subjects have also been added into NT4. Then run the 'Export to NT4' routine from an up-to-date NT6 Dataset. In NT4 you then just run the 'Import from NT6' routine. If you have missed any Staff/Subjects then NT4 will soon tell you this! The New NT4 type Reports in SIMS are run from:- Reports, Timetables. The Options there are supposed to mimic all the Reports from NT4. A few are not yet present as they failed the Testing phase (partly because of them not coping with my dataset containing Sub-Bands). Also, some of the reports do not generate correctly and others need the default to be edited. A 'polishing project' is needed before the full functionality of NT4 is complete. I would regard all these tasks as the responsibility of the Timetabler, which here is yours truly! (Amongst other many and varied responsibilities!). Most 'Admin Staff' would most probably not have this knowledge at this moment in time. By the sounds of it - neither have your Local Support Team! However - I may be doing them a great dis-service by saying that, and they do know the new Reporting intimately! If they cannot replicate the NT4 Reports then you can very easily update NT4.
