soveryapt Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Morning all Another day, another question about flippin educational software that doesn't seem to consider real world usage .. lol .. Right, we have BoardMaker v6 at my school and it's fine for the computers with a CD Drive, but we have a few NetBooks for the more mobile staff (SLT Primarily) and they occassionally need to make use of BoardMaker when they're out and about, but obviously, no chance of installing it. Just wondering if anyone has a figured a workaround for this or not? I'm contacting Mayor Johnston too about this, but not expecting a great deal of assistance from them. lol.
Domino Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Could you make an iso of it and the use MagicIso to mount it? 1
soveryapt Posted September 9, 2010 Author Posted September 9, 2010 Could you make an iso of it and the use MagicIso to mount it? I've tried installing it from a mounted ISO (or even copied disk) before now and it's not liked it, but I'll give it another go .. thing is, the flippin thing installs and just uses the CD as a dongle ..
lasercat Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Never used BoardMaker, so I'm just guessing here. If it's a requirement you have a CD in the drive to install, and can't just run the setup over the network, you could maybe look at something like virtual clone drive which will create a virtual CD drive. You'll just need to mount an ISO image of the CD. 1

Aye, see my reply above, tried that previously just for installing it instead of having to track down a copy in school (it's one of those install it as many times as you like, but you can only run it with the CD in apps) .. thanks tho ..
soveryapt Posted September 9, 2010 Author Posted September 9, 2010 small usb cdrom? Might be the only option .. just trying to avoid buying extra kit such as that because then I might as well of bought them a laptop .. lol ..
mayerjohnson Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Have you looked into the new Boardmaker Studio? There is a downloadable version of the software.
Little-Miss Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Not much help here but wanted to sympathise with you! The fact it needs the Cd to run is an absolute nightmare! I have to admit i bought an external CD drive for issues like this :/ Again not much help! But will be watching this thread with interest!
