Sony Laptop screen

Welcome back huh!

 

Sony FZ21S laptop now has pink vertical lines on screen. It has a Nvidia 8600M card which I know are very suspect. This has been disabled but lines remain. Any suggestions?

Probably a damaged cable or image decoder. New screen time if it is under warrenty.

thanks syn. Well out of warranty. The screen is ok apart from the pink stripes. I can get an external monitor to work either. Wont recognise it. Annoyingly i have just replaced hard drive and installed win7

Will it take a docking station, you can pick them up quite cheaply off auction sites for some types of laptops and this will include an additional VGA port which may function as it takes a different path to the GPU. Probably not worth it unless you have got multiple laptops though. You may be able to fix it by reseating the ribbon cables from the LCD to the GPU but it is more likely to be the decoder in the LCD pannel itself.
