I am probably being incredibly thick here but as i've never needed to this before i'm not sure how to go about it! HP sent a replacement HDD via DHL and included a returns label for the defective unit. How do I send this back?

I notice on the DHL website about "servicepoints" and how many retail outlets act as a drop-off point. Obviously with royal mail parcels we'd use the post office.

Without calling someone out from DHL, do the post office offer this service or would it have to be a servicepoint retailer? Failing that, is arranging a courier collection the best bet (not sure about it during school holidays though as opening times are a bit chaotic and in the past DHL collections arranged by a 3rd party result in the courier getting very tempered if someone isn't there to hand over the goods when they arrive!).

You call the number on the label, or on the bit of paper included in the package. They'll ask for the HP account number and the consignment number then log a collection.

That's the only way I know of to arrange a DHL collection.

I know HP give you a A4 bit of paper with instructions on telling you how to send back, think you ring a number, quote the contract number, pickup address and thats it.

This is a classic case of "put the delivery note in the filing cabinet and don't bother checking if there is another bit of paper attached to it, attached so closely that you wouldn't know it was there unless you really looked closely".

I think that says it all really :o Doesn't help that I could really have done without a courier on this occasion though i'll just have to hope the guy who comes has some patience(!)

Cheers chaps :)
